Systems Based on Self-Regulating Heating Cables

Systems based on industrial-grade self-regulating heating cables that can be used for temperature maintenance or freeze protection of pipelines and vessels, de-icing on outdoor industrial sites in non-hazardous and ex-hazardous areas. Power output adjusts automatically in response to the ambient temperature.

Advantages
  • Automatically adjust heat output based on surface temperature
  • Can be used in explosion hazardous areas
  • Easy to install
  • Can be cut to required length on site
  • No complicated design calculations required
  • Will not overheat when overlapped
  • Thermoplastic or fluoropolymer outer jacket
  • Full range of accessories available
  • UV- and chemical-resistant

Operating principle
  1. Nickel-plated copper conductors
  2. Semi-conductive self-regulating matrix
  3. Matrix insulation
  4. Tinned copper braid
  5. Thermoplastic or fluoropolymer outer jacket
The operating principle of a self-regulating heating cable is based on heat release in a matrix made of a special electrically conductive compound. The matrix material is filled with composite material and has a positive temperature coefficient of resistance. Due to this, the effect of self-regulation is achieved: with an increase in the temperature of the compound, its resistance grows, and with the increase in resistance, the released heat power decreases. The product is constantly in thermal interaction with the environment, changing its electrical properties, that reduces the amount of electricity consumed. Sections based on self-regulating heating cables can have any length: from minimum (~ 0.2 m) to maximum (~ 200 m), without affecting its technical characteristics. Installation of self-regulating heating cable is quick and simple and requires no special skills or tools. Self-regulating cables’ technical properties form the basis of the system’s safety and reliability: cables do not overheat or burn out even when crossing each other.
